- Diabetes Control Via Veg on WGBH
- Egg Farm Investigations
1) RESOURCES FOR RAISING VEG CHILDREN
We have just gone live with a new page, Resources for Raising Vegetarian and Vegan Children. It brings together the best we have found on the topic. We haven't come across another source that consolidates resources in this way, so we hope it will be a useful contribution.
Let us know what you think, and if you have any suggestions! The photo is of a former BVS Board member's child who loves gymnastics, school, animals, and being vegan. The pig resides at Farm Sanctuary. If you have photos of your vegan child, please email them in; we'd love to see them!
2) THE NEW FRANKS AT FENWAY
Fenway Franks step aside -- veggie dogs and burgers will be added to the menu at Fenway Park this season!

3) WGBH BRINGS VEGAN APPROACH TO DIABETES CONTROL
The natural, plant-based diet approach to treating diabetes took a giant leap forward with WGBH's feature of Neal Barnard, MD, during their recent fund-raising specials on PBS. Dr. Barnard presents scientifically proven methods for turning back the clock on diabetes, and reducing heart disease risk as well. Watch the trailer:
4) EGG FARM INVESTIGATIONS
The Humane Society of the U.S. released this week a video of their latest undercover investigation. It shows standard industry practices on large farms producing eggs. Here's a look inside two major egg farms:
Close to home, here is undercover footage taken in 2009 by Mercy for Animals (MFA) investigators at New England's largest egg factory farm - Quality Egg of New England in Turner, Maine.
Another MFA investigation in '09 gives an inside look at an often overlooked aspect of the egg industry -- a hatchery, where eggs are hatched to get the female chicks to replenish the "spent" egg-laying hens at egg farms.
We can help! There are lots of delicious egg-free recipes for meals and desserts linked on our website at
